Originally from Kenya, Dr Raore left his home and family to attend college in the US.
The Story
Originally from Kenya, Dr Raore left his home and family to attend college in the US. As a trainee in neurosurgery, Dr Raore returned to Kenya and while working at various hospitals he came to terms with the serious shortage of neurosurgical care.
Over the last 10 years, has made several neurosurgical mission trips performing a range of brain and spinal surgeries. In 2013 he served as a short-term neurosurgical missionary for Samaritan’s Purse International Relief.
In 2018, along with a group of other neurosurgeons, he founded the Kisumu Neuroscience Initiative. This organization is focused to bring neurosurgical care to millions of people in western Kenya who do not have access to neurosurgical services. They achieve this through a frequent rotation among the group of neurosurgeons, cooperating with local surgeons and training local surgeons.
So far, they have completed close to 200 brain and spine surgeries. In addition to supporting his organization, he is active with the Pan-African Academy of Christian Surgeons (PAACS) where he is part of the volunteer neurosurgery faculty.
Dr Raore had humble beginnings and to achieve all that he has, he has been a recipient of much kindness. He is confident that kindness in not only a responsibility but a way to make the world a better place.

Why KNI
“Volunteering as a medical missionary on several trips to Africa has demonstrated the need for continued medical missionary work with goals traversing direct patient care and extending to medical student teaching and resident training. The benefit of our approach is the focus on long term results. We achieve this by making a long term commitment to equip the local providers to achieve future independence. The providers who volunteer also benefit from a change in focus, appreciation of what is mundane, and are reminded how little technology or infrastructure is needed in order to demonstrate that you care for a patient, and how to preserve the dignity of being human.”
